When my dear mother was preparing a scrumptious meal for her family, sometimes she would (for a space of time) place things on … “the back-burner”.
She understood the PURPOSE of the “back-burner”.
The “back-burner” was a place where the heat was NOT nearly as intense.
The “ingredients” in the vessel (on the “back-burner”) would NEVER reach the “boiling” point.
The vessel on “the back-burner” NEVER boiled over and made a mess of things.
Of course, it still needed an occasional “stirring” to prevent scorching and a bad taste…
The “back-burner” was a place for the ingredients to sit and patiently simmer… . toward perfection. ☺
It was the simmering process that blended the flavors of all the ingredients she had meticulously and purposefully placed into the vessel.
She was preparing SOMETHING SPECIAL for her family, and it had to be just right. She wanted it to be the best it could be!
The simmering on “the back-burner” … was the secret of her culinary success !
Do not lament if it seems the Master has placed you and your ministry on “the back-burner”
You are “simmering” and the process will bring out THE FLAVOR OF HIS PERFECTION in your life and ministry.
God is preparing something special for his family, in the vessel called YOU !
So simmer on my fellow laborer.
